Peter Zappel is an award-winning photographer, writer, musician, entrepreneur. Born in Budapest, Hungary, Peter fled from his homeland with his family during the Hungarian revolution. Living in England and Canada before settling in the United States, he now makes his home in the Santa Cruz Mountains of California.
With a distinctly psychological flavor, his images have been described as "dark, surreal, whimsically abstract." He has exhibited in prestigious art world venues such as the Viridian Gallery in New York City's Chelsea arts district. His piece Blue Moon was selected by Guggenheim Museum curator Robert Rosenblum for inclusion in the exclusive 14th Annual Viridian Arts Juried Exhibition 2003 sponsored by New York University.
His most recent exhibitions include his Western World series in North Hollywood California's trendy Lankershim Gallery in the heart of the Noho arts district, his new series Divine Polarity at Karpeles Museum in Santa Barbara, California and Schloss Ulmerfeld Museum in Amstetten, Austria. His juried exhibitions include the Washington Gallery of Photography in Bethesda, Maryland, Union Street Gallery in Chicago Heights, Illinois, Havre de Grace Arts in Havre de Grace Maryland and Texas Artist's Museum in Port Arthur, Texas.
